The Snake Sheds its Skin
This Wednesday we will experience a total solar eclipse with the Luminaries, Sun and Moon in Cancer, a water sign ruled by the Moon, in the intense nakshatra, Aslesha, which is symbolized by serpents of the deep underworld called Nagas.
On this day the Moon will pass completely over the Sun blocking its radiance and emerge again renewed. The significance of this occurring in the nakshatra of hidden occult truths, unconscious patterns and spiritual awakening, can not be understated. Secrets will be unearthed, lies exposed and agendas revealed, both personally and collectively.
The eclipse will be visible over Greenland, Iceland, Northern Russia and Spain, all areas of struggle, conflict and controversy on the geopolitical arena.
Jupiter and Mercury are also with the luminaries in Cancer bringing the grace of the Guru (Jupiter) and the Intelligence of Mercury to assist this time of cleansing, purification, transmutation and renewal as old patterns of control and greed are exposed and disrupted.
In addition we call this a Ketu eclipse because of the proximity of the luminaries to the eclipse axis and Ketu, in particular who is in Leo ruled by the Sun, in the naskhatra Magha. Magha, represents patriarchal lineages as well as the process of evolving to take on the mantle of responsible stewardship for yourself, your families, communities and the Earth. It is a time to decide what is of value to hold onto and what to release as we move forward into a more harmonic timeline. It could be a turbulent transition, especially in the emotional and sensitive sign of Cancer. Globally we could see issues with storms, floods, tidal waves, land shifts, the obstruction of trade and oil. But it is a shifting that needs to occur to dismantle what has been in control for far too long.
If you have the ASC, Moon or Sun in Cancer in your birth chart this could be a very transitional time for you. Remember I am viewing the chart from the position of the stars in the system of Vedic astrology called Jyotisha.
Benevolent and harmonious Venus is in Virgo, the sign of bringing sustenance to mankind, in the nakshatra Uttara Phalguni, a place of friendship, community, beauty, creativity and abundance. He is aspected directly by Saturn in Pisces, the most spiritual of signs, ruled by Guru, Jupiter, in the nakshatra, Revati, the lighthouse. These two teachers are guiding us through this passage. Venus says, be gentle and loving to yourself. Practice silent reverence and listen for inner guidance, avoiding rash decisions at this time. Saturn, in the star of illumination, the lighthouse that guides ships from disaster, is saying, “stay focused, disciplined, quiet and follow the light”.
It is a time to surrender and take honest inventory of patterns you are ready to release. Practice silence, self forgiveness and compassion even as difficult issues are dredged to the surface. This too shall pass. Relax.
